Law enforcement agencies shall provide basic information on the rights and services available to you.
The information shall be in writing and shall be provided to you within 24 hours of the law enforcement agency’s first contact with you.
You have the right to be restored as you were before the crime, as much as possible, through restitution and to receive assistance with preparing, submitting and follow-up with a claim for compensation.
Law enforcement agencies shall, within 48 hours of reporting the crime, give notice to you, as the direct victim or, if appropriate, a member of your family of the availability of crime victims compensation. This notice shall be in writing.
The written notification provided shall be accompanied by one copy of the application form for crime victims’ compensation.
